Singing in the Rain, and Other Places

I’m baaaack! Did you miss me?

Monday was such a busy day. Then on Tuesday I played in the Ladies Member Guest golf tourney with my mom at her golf club. Unfortunately it was a cold and wet day but we managed to still have some fun. Today it’s back to normal…ironing, cleaning, playing, blogging. At least the sun is out and it’s a beautiful day.

Today I thought I would blog about Caleb and Justin’s singing. Ever since they were babies, we have always sung to them. Justin especially loves to sit on my lap and listen to me sing. I’m sure my voice sounds like a angel cat in heat but they don’t seem to mind.

When I was a little girl, I remember my Grandad bouncing me on his lap and singing “Pony Boy”. Tradition has continued and I still sing that song to my kids. Both boys love it. I remember taking Caleb on the airplane to Tucson when he was about 9 months old and I think we sang Pony Boy at least 100 times before we landed 3 hours later!

Justin’s favorite song is “Hush Little Baby”. He climbs up on my lap, grabs my hands, and rocks back and forth while I sing the song. Sometimes he changes the words, “Poppa’s going to buy you…” to “Grandpa’s going to buy you…” or “Nana’s going to buy you…”

Lately we have been waking up in the mornings to the sound of Caleb and Justin singing in their room! One day it’s Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Another day it’s Rain, Rain, Go Away. Today it was You Are My Sunshine. They don’t know all of the words so sometimes they make up their own words or add in their own verse!

They also like to sing when we are eating lunch or dinner. Maybe it’s the Kumbaya feeling they get when we all sit at the table together! Even Ben gets in on the action by squealing along.

I love hearing them sing. It makes me laugh and get that “feel good” feeling inside. Of course when we try to videotape them they become silent and pretend like it never happened. I’ll have to film them inconspicuously one day and hopefully share it with you.
