Hello again!  How is your day going?

Mine is going great.  It started out with a bowl of Oatmeal Cookie Cereal! *swoon*

That breakfast keeps me full for hours.  And if you read my post this morning…..you know that I’m always hungry, so I like a filling breakfast!

Then it was off to the grocery store.  I gotta admit, I really like grocery shopping.  Of course, it probably helps that I don’t have the kids with me!  I have time to look around the whole store and find some neat items.  I’ll share some of those with you tomorrow icon wink Food Photography

I also had to make a trip to Chatters because we are almost out of my favorite shampoo and conditioner.  And there is nothing worse than being in the shower with an empty bottle of shampoo!

Then I went and bought a few things for my food photography.  As you’ve seen, I like to post photos of the recipes I share on my blog.  However, just because the meal tastes good, doesn’t mean it “looks” good on film.  I think it gives my readers a good idea of what the meal looks like and, if it looks appetizing, you are more willing to try it.

I’ve been learning a few tips on taking pretty pictures of food.  Some of these are good lighting (natural light is preferred), cropping, simple props, etc.  So I went and bought a couple of cheap props to start out.

Here is a picture of my lunch today:

I personally think this shot is much better than the breakfast cereal shot above.  All I did was add a neutral coloured placemat and some natural light from the kitchen window.

I still have a lot to learn, but I hope my photos look more appetizing over the next few weeks!

Do you like to post pictures of your recipes? If so, do you have any tips you would like to share?

I went out and bought a collection of interesting plates, bowls and glasses as well as a few placemats that I try to remember to use when taking photos of food. I think your pictures look pretty good though – so you don't need any advice from me!

Looks awesome Jen! Just wondering if you would share a post of what your six meals in a day might consist of? I am always looking for new ideas for food to eat throughout the day.

Tonight for dinner (with your 3 boys) we had Costco's "heat & serve" ribs. They all love those ribs and I have pics to prove it. Caleb said he loves ribs even a little bit more than taco salad. He's a reall meat eater as he had 6 ribs and couldn't finish his dessert (Abbraqadaquiri Pie no less!!) because he was too stuffed. I'll say! Love to watch him eat.
