What is the 21 Day Fix?

by Jen on January 24, 2014

It’s all the buzz in the fitness world, the brand new workout which is the 21 day fix!!  It’s coming to you on February 3rd, 2014.  It is a rapid weight loss program that is designed to give you  a nutrition guide with portion controlled containers, a workout program, plus the support and accountability of me as your coach!

What is the 21 Day Fix?

The 21 Day Fix program takes the guesswork out of weight loss. It’s a unique portion-control system combined with easy-to-follow workouts that fit into anyone’s busy schedule. Trainer Autumn Calabrese shares her passion for food and fitness as she shows you how to make simple choices that add up to life-changing results.

Umm hello, sounds perfect, right?!!!   I am so excited about this.  How often do you feel this way;  you are eating healthy, you are exercising, but you just aren’t losing weight.  Usually, it comes down to portion sizes of the food you are eating. So this program is specifically designed to help you in that area!!

21 day fix nutrition

What is included?

In the 21 Day Fix Challenge Pack: You will receive 7 workouts on 2 DVDs – Dirty 30 workout, Total Body Cardio Fix, Upper Fix, Lower Fix, Pilates Fix, Cardio Fix, Yoga Fix. Plus the nutrition guide with 7 containers for portion control. You will also get a workout calendar, 3-day Quick Fix that Autumn uses for photoshoots, an eating plan, and 24/7 Online support, and a shaker cup. Plus a 30 day supply of Shakeology in any flavor.

What does the nutrition plan look like?

The nutrition plan is simple. No food is off limits because everything is in moderation. The food is easy to shop for, prep, and eat. You are allowed Shakeology. When you order the 21 Day Fix, you receive portioned food storage containers that are measured out for the perfect portion. You don’t have to count calories. It’s planned out all by containers. The containers are easy to carry with you, and they are microwave and dishwasher safe!

Can I modify meal plans for my needs?

Yes! The meal plan can be adapted to meet your needs, and there are directions on how to do so included with the materials you’ll receive when you order the 21 Day Fix.

Can I have a cheat meal?

Yes. You can have a treat a few times week, and she does break down how to include for something like a glass of wine or chocolate.

What results can I expect?

People generally lose up to 10-15lbs! It isn’t a starvation or quick-fix type of program either. You can lose 10-15lbs and keep it off when you practice the healthy habits you learn in those 21 days.

What are the workouts like?

They are 30 minutes long and vary daily. Autumn Calabrese is the trainer. Each workout is intense and necessary to your results. Two of the things I loved about the 21 Day Fix is 1) the workouts are only 30 minutes, and 2) there are modifications for everyone. so whether you are a beginner or an athlete, these workouts will work for you.

What equipment will I need?

You’ll need a set of dumbbells or a resistance band.

So how can you score your own copy of the fix and start seeing results?!?

Be a part of a 21 Day Fix challenge group!! Please message me on Facebook or shoot me an email at clientcare AT thefithousewife DOT com.  The group will be a select few individuals who are ready to commit to 21 days of focus and intensity.  I will be there to walk you through the nutrition plan, to teach you how to plan it out, how to make it work for your lifestyle, and to keep you accountable.  The group is done through an online closed support group. That means that no one but the members of the group can see what is being posted.  I will not let you fail!  If you invest in me, then I will invest in you!  The only cost is the cost of the challenge pack which includes everything you need to get started.  The 21 day nutrition guide, the program manual, the workouts, free shipping, discounted price and me as your coach for the accountability, support and guidance!  Let’s make it happen!  You are going to  look amazing this spring and summer!  Why not start now!?  You can be the next TRANSFORMATION STORY!!!

I am type 2 diabetic. I am trying to be wheat free and gluten free. Do you have to eat from all the containers at EVERY meal and will this fit into my diabetic concerns?

2 Jen May 14, 2014 at 12:27 pm

Hey Donald! You can definitely customize the plan to be wheat and gluten-free if that’s what you need to do. Not all the carbs she lists have gluten in them, like quinoa, etc. You can spread out the containers throughout the day to suit your style of eating..it is best to spread them out rather than have a few of the same color at one meal. Do you think that would work for you?

I am seriously thinking of starting the 21 day fix. I weigh over 300 pounds and had both hips replaced a few years ago. I wonder if I can do the exercises without causing harm to my replaced hip joints?

4 Jen May 19, 2014 at 9:44 am

Hey Deborah! Yes, you can definitely do this program. Please email me at clientcare@thefithousewife.com so we can chat about how this program can work for you 🙂

Wow, that is amazing Annette! Way to go! Are you using this program?

9 Almost Me May 21, 2014 at 6:28 am

The past 3 years of my life have been beyond difficult, with the pentacle being the death of my oldest child. I am ready to start something, anything to get more of ‘me’ back. I want to be able to enjoy my other three children and not feel embarrassed about my body. Three cesarean surgeries has left my stomach pretty damaged. I want more than this, not just for them, but for me.

10 Jen May 22, 2014 at 9:01 am

I’m sorry to hear about your loss, how devastating and hard that would be. I’m glad you want to get back in shape…please email me clientcare AT thefithousewife DOT com if you would like to chat more about this 🙂

I just bought my kit yesterday… I am anxious to start. I want to drop 65 lbs. Do you just repeat the cycle over and over again until you hit your goal? Do you have to cut any foods out completely (e.g. carbs)? And is it 7 days/week for working out?

Thank you in advance!!

14 Jen May 30, 2014 at 12:55 pm

Hey! Wow, that’s great! I’m excited for you to receive it! Yes, you can repeat the cycle as many times as you want! Your other questions will be answered in the guide it comes with! Are you working with another beachbody coach already?

15 Paige June 4, 2014 at 3:04 am

I’m having hernia surgery in the morning and I’m wondering if I’ll be able to use the system without concentrating on core exercises and still see results

16 Jen June 5, 2014 at 8:24 am

Yes, for sure! The nutrition part is the key in this program! Do you already have the program Paige?

17 Paige June 5, 2014 at 8:42 am

No, I was waiting to hear from you. I really are interested, but I thought the exercise portion would be equally as important. I also want to get my Drs approval to exercise before I order it.
It is going to take me a while to recover from this surgery. I certainly don’t want to tear it again. It does, however, look like a very sensible program. I’m curious how much I’d get to eat. I eat very healthy and just can’t seem to drop a pound. I’ve tried everything! I’ve reached a plateau after losing 45 pounds 4 years ago and can’t get the scale to move. I know I need to bump up my exercise routine and I haven’t found one I like to be honest. I like the idea of 30 minutes. I can give myself 30 minutes. I’m 51, 5′ tall and weigh between 135-140. I’m looking for something to help me get off this last 20 pounds and tone up. I’ve been through 4 years of intense surgeries and haven’t been able to exercise much in the last 3. Nothing more than occasional walks, my Giselle, and some isolated squats(my favorite), and I try to use 4lb arm weights when watching tv. I’m really out of shape. It has been a very long four years! I’m ready to get well and kick some butt! Lol

18 Jen June 7, 2014 at 10:33 am

Thanks so much for getting back to me Paige! In terms of how much you get to eat…you are NOT starving yourself. All of my challengers who do this program with me say they are surprised at how much you actually get to eat during this program! It’s more about the portions and balancing the meals. I really think this program is going to help you reach your goal of losing 20 pounds! Once you get approval, please let me know and we can get you set up on this program 🙂

19 Paige June 7, 2014 at 3:07 pm

Hi, I am wondering how the program will work for me…I do not eat any veggies what so ever. I have already lost 25lbs and seem to be on a Plateau…Thanks!

20 Jen June 10, 2014 at 10:25 am

Wow, great job on your weight loss so far!! The plan does incorporate a lot of veggies, so the only thing I can recommend is using Shakeology as it has 5 servings of fruits/veggies in it. Have you heard of Shakeology or tried it before Paige?

21 Chaz June 23, 2014 at 1:33 am

I am 59 and 204 lbs. My weight has fluctuated only about 8 lbs + – from this midpoint in the last 25 years. I would like to drop 25 or so lbs and hold, while I increase my working out. My Dr. Would like me to exercise and lose some weight. Will this work for me? How long do you think it will take? I saw the tv ad. How much will this cost? How should I proceed?

My wife is also interested in losing some weight and getting in better shape.

22 Jen June 23, 2014 at 1:18 pm

Hey Chaz! Thanks for messaging me. Would you be able to email me at clientcare AT thefithousewife DOT com so we can chat some more rather than back in forth on the blog? Thanks so much!

23 Jen June 23, 2014 at 1:27 pm

Hey Chaz! Thanks for commenting! I would love to help you with this. Can you please email me clientcare AT thefithousewife DOT com Thanks so much!!

24 Becca K June 30, 2014 at 8:09 am

I am a type 1 diabetic with a very high insulin resistance. I have recently went through 2 miscarriages within 6 months and the doctors have all told me I need to lose some weight before we try again. I want to be as healthy as possible for myself as well. I am 5’2″ and I weight 200. I had lost a ton of weight last year but I gained it all back after I got married. I can’t do a gym with work and my 5 year old step son to take care of. I need a program that I can stick with even after I lose the weight. Is this something I can continue after I reach my goal. I don’t want to just lose and be done I want to keep it off for my blood sugar and blood pressure.

25 Jen June 30, 2014 at 1:50 pm

Hey Becca! I will email you at the address you provided 🙂 I look forward to chatting with you!

26 Chaz June 30, 2014 at 2:19 pm

Please advise if you did not get my response emails. One last week and one just minutes ago.

27 Renee July 5, 2014 at 6:39 pm

I’ll try to make this brief. I’ve had three strokes the last being more severe. Dr’s keep saying to loose loose and I’m trying only to fail. I portion my food but it’s not working. Some foods suggested to eat I don’t like I just don’t know what eat anymore? I want to try this plan but don’t have money to loose if it don’t work already have so many books. My body has just gone array and I’ stuck at 248 I’m a diabetic, have a thyroid problem u name it I suffer I really would like to know this might work for me. There’s no weird foods u have to eat is it?

28 Jen July 6, 2014 at 9:43 am

Hi Renee! Thanks for your comment! I’m sorry to hear you are struggling to lose weight. Are you exercising at all? Also, can you please describe what an example of “weird foods” may be? The list of foods you are given are whole foods..so they don’t seem weird to me, but I don’t know what foods you don’t like.

29 meagan July 31, 2014 at 11:21 am

I am on day 19 of this program, I followed the eating plan, workouts, even the double workouts in the last week. I have only lost 3 lbs. im already a fit person, but I wanted to loose the last 15 lbs. and ive only lost 3. Im really discouraged and disappointed.

30 Jen July 31, 2014 at 2:14 pm

Hey Meagan! Thanks for leaving a comment. Can you please elaborate when you say, I’m already a fit person?

31 Megan white August 1, 2014 at 5:21 pm

How much does this cost?

32 Jen August 5, 2014 at 12:15 pm

It depends Megan, there are a few different options. It starts at $60. If you would like to know more about your options, please email me at clientcare@thefithousewife.com and I’m happy to chat more about the program!

33 Evelenn August 24, 2014 at 9:38 am

I just bought the 21 day fix, but I want to maintain my weight for the most part and just lose the stomach pooch and excess fat. I mainly bought this for the healthy eating plan and to help moderate my portions while getting in shape at the same time. I was going to stick to an 1800-2000 calorie diet because I don’t want to lose 15lbs since I am 120/125. I want to build some muscle, but I am aware I do need to lose 5lbs or so in fat. Should I stick to a 1800-2000 normal calorie diet or should I follow the 1400-1499 calorie diet that Autumn recommends for my weight?

34 Jen August 24, 2014 at 10:25 am

Hey Evelenn! You sound like me..I did the program but didn’t want to lose weight. If you want to NOT lose weight, check out the calorie calculation at the back of the book for “maintenance.” That’s what I followed. There is also a calculation if you choose to do other, more intense workouts!

35 kim scott November 11, 2014 at 5:41 pm

how much is it

36 Jen November 13, 2014 at 8:58 am

It depends Kim, there are different options available. If you want to email me clientcare@thefithousewife.com and I can go through all the options with you 🙂

37 julie March 2, 2016 at 5:49 pm

38 Jen March 4, 2016 at 9:22 am

I would use an app lie myfitnesspal to determine how many calories you should be consuming 🙂

39 shine July 21, 2016 at 8:52 pm

Hi there,
I just wanted to know if I can do all the exercises as I am suffering from hypothyroidism and high prolactin level. Pls suggest.

40 Jen July 22, 2016 at 2:27 pm

Yes, for sure! There is a modifier you can follow as well if you need to tone down any of the exercises! I have clients with hypothyroidism and they do well with this program. Let me know if you want to give it a try, I can set you up with everything you need 🙂

41 Christina Lambert June 17, 2017 at 2:07 pm

Hey, Jen!
Are you still coaching? I started beachbody on demand in January of this year, however have been slacking significantly this month. I have list 15 lbs so now am 139lbs. I can’t do a sit up to save my butt & burpees are a challenge as well. I do shakeology as well despite not yesterday or today. I’ve lost all motivation. Suggestions?? I’m currently apart of a group but have completely derailed as Shaun T week was not for me at tgis time.
Thank you so much for your time!!
Christina Lambert

42 Jen June 18, 2017 at 11:31 am

HI Christina! Yes, I’m still coaching. Congrats on your weight loss, that is awesome! Sorry to hear you’ve lost your motivation. My suggestion is to really dig deep and find your WHY for doing this. It usually has to come from a place of emotion. For me, it was seeing a picture of myself holding my son and I was so overweight. I couldn’t live with myself like that…not just for me, but for my family as well. I stuck that picture on my mirror, and each day I was reminded that I didn’t want to go back there, and that’s what kept me going. Try and find that deep seeded WHY and I think you’ll find the motivation you need to continue this journey 🙂
