If you have kids like I do, you’ve probably bought Nutella at some point! Or even if you don’t have kids…you’ve probably bought Nutella 😉 It’s seriously yummy stuff. However, after switching over to more of a clean eating lifestyle, I have become more aware of ingredients in popular foods, foods like Nutella.
When you read the ingredients list on a jar of Nutella, it goes like this: sugar, modified palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, skim milk powder, whey powder, lecithin, vanillin.
Since sugar is listed first, that means it is the most prevalent ingredient, followed by modified palm oil, which is high in saturated fat and has no nutrition whatsoever. Which is why I decided to try making my own healthy version of Nutella! This recipe uses only clean eating ingredients. This recipe is also great for those with dairy allergies as I used all non-daily ingredients.
I’m happy to say that it turned out to be just as
addicting delicious as the store bought version!!
This Healthy Homemade Nutella took me no time at all to make. You could roast the hazelnuts on a different day if you wanted to save time, but you don’t need to as you are only roasting them for about 8 minutes. Once it’s made, you can store it in the fridge for quite a while.
My boys love this Healthy Homemade Nutella on their toast in the morning, or spread on a banana when they get home from school. I personally like it right out of the jar!!
