I was chatting with my family the other day about desserts, and which desserts are our favourites. When I go to a restaurant, there are only a few desserts that make it worth the splurge. My first choice is carrot cake. I absolutely LOVE carrot cake!! But my second choice is always apple crisp! I love a warm apple crisp with crunchy oat topping and vanilla ice cream melting overtop. Mmmm….it makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
Typically, fruit crisps are made with a lot of white, processed sugar. But since I try not to eat that stuff, I wanted to make an apple crisp that was made with natural sugar. Maple syrup was the winner! I love the deeper flavour of maple syrup, and it makes the perfect addition to this apple crisp. PLUS, this apple crisp is 21 Day Fix approved!! So yes, you can eat this while on the program!
