Beachbody Coaching Versus Personal Training

Beachbody Coaching versus Personal Training

If you had told me a few years ago that I would be working in the fitness industry, I wouldn’t have believed you!! First off, I was so overweight after having my kids, that I was not the face of a fit and healthy person. Secondly, I’m a shy, introverted person, and training people or teaching group fitness always scared the heck out of me!!

But after losing 90 pounds and falling in LOVE with fitness, I knew that it was my passion and I wanted to do something in the fitness industry.

The only thing I could think of was becoming a personal trainer or group fitness instructor. So I did a little research, and I found out that I have to take some courses in order to become certified. That makes sense. You wouldn’t want just anyone off the street training you! But when was I going to find the time and money to commit to that? I just had 3 kids (all under the age of 3!) I was busy and exhausted.

But let’s say I did find the time and money to become certified as a trainer, when would I train people? I couldn’t do it during the day – I was busy looking after my kids. I didn’t want to do it in the evening because I was so exhausted by the time 7pm rolled around. And I most certainly didn’t want to train people on the weekends because that was our family time together.

So I started to look for a job that would fulfill my love of fitness and nutrition but not take away a lot of time from my family. That’s when I learned about the Beachbody Coaching opportunity! I can work from home AND be with my kids! PLUS, I can earn what a personal trainer earns and even grow that income.

Here is a video by Jenelle Summers explaining the income difference between a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and Beachbody coach:

Here is the average salary of a personal trainer and group fitness instructor:

Average Salary for personal trainers

Some things to remember:

  1. The cost of joining as a Beachbody coach is much lower than getting certified.
  2. Your income as a coach is unlimited. The more effort you put in, the more money you can make. As a trainer or group instructor, you are limited by the number of hours in a day and how often you can workout.
  3. As a coach, I can reach anyone in the U.S. and Canada right from my computer – at home! I’ve met so many wonderful women online and I love supporting them. As a trainer, you are limited to the people in your area.
  4. You can supplement your personal training income by becoming a Beachbody coach. You can give program recommendations that your clients can do at home when they aren’t working with you, as well as nutritional supplements they can use to support their healthy eating.

How do you succeed at coaching?

Coaching is very similar to being a personal trainer in that you take the time to get to know your potential client. You get to know their goals, struggles, time commitment, etc. We take time and effort to really get to know our client’s needs. Yes, it takes time to build up your clientele to a full-time income level, but it is possible – I’m proof!

We love to help people get started with a free 5 – 7 day clean eating group to get them into some good eating and exercise habits. After that, we make recommendations for a program that would suit them and their fitness level, give them a simple meal plan to follow, and get them into an intense online accountability group that lasts 3 or more weeks. This is the MOST rewarding part of my job. To watch my clients see results and become a more confident person.

As your clients begin to reach their goals, they become excited, and start to encourage others in the group and those around them. You can then present the coaching opportunity to them so you build a big team of like-minded people around you! Who wouldn’t want to be a part of team of people helping people get fit and healthy?!

Hmmm…this sounds like a lot of work!

You might be thinking that it sounds like a lot of work! But guess what? We provide you with all the tools you need to succeed! We have some of the best training available to you to help you get started. I provide my personal calendar each month so you know how to get organized. Everything is outlined step-by-step so that you don’t have to figure everything out on your own.

I have found this to be the perfect job for a stay-at-home mom! We can work from home, be with our kids, and help others at the same time!! The income potential and flexibility are so much greater than a personal trainer or fitness instructor. Plus, we get to offer our clients state of the art workouts that they can do at home whenever their schedule allows.

Do I need a certification to be a Beachbody coach?

No, not at all! That was one of the things that attracted me to coaching. I started out as a customer, fell in love with the products, and found out I could share my love for Beachbody with others!! I didn’t even know anyone that was into fitness. I grew this business starting from scratch!

If you still really enjoy training or being a group fitness instructor, did you know you can get certified in some of Beachbody’s most popular programs? You can teach programs like P90X, Insanity, PiYo, and CIZE! This is a great option if you still want to teach fitness classes.
