Homemade Deodorant. Make your own natural deodorant at home with just 4 ingredients.

No one likes to talk about it, but body odor is just a natural part of life!

Luckily, I’ve never been one who struggles with body odor, I very rarely even wear deodorant. However, I do get wet under my armpits quite easily, especially after a long walk with the dog or when I’m at an event meeting a lot of people.

I’ve been using natural store-bought deodorant for a few years. While they work great, I’ve been wanting to make my own!

Why Natural Deodorant?

When I was a teenager, I used the regular deodorant that you can buy at the drugstore. But a couple of years ago, I personally felt that rubbing my armpits with aluminum and other additives probably wasn’t a good idea. It bothered me that I was rubbing that stuff in an area that contains important glands like our lymph nodes!

So what should I do? Sweat like a pig or rub aluminum on my pits?

That’s when I turned to natural deodorant. While I did have some success with it, sometimes I found that they didn’t work that well. ¬†And even though I was buying natural deodorant, there are still quite a few ingredients in it. And while most of the ingredients may be harmless, I figured it would be better to make my own with just a few simple ingredients.

How to Make Natural Homemade Deodorant

Last year, I shared with you my natural skin care routine which saves me tons of money! I still practice this routine daily and love it. So why not do the same with deodorant?!

You probably already have a couple of the ingredients lying around. What you may not have is the shea butter. It’s not something you HAVE to add, but I love how soft it feels on your skin. This is the shea butter that I use.

I also customized the scent by adding two drops of lavender essential oil. You could use whichever scent you like, but again, it’s not necessary.

I’ve been using this deodorant for a few weeks and I love it! It works great!

My goal over the next few months is to convert ALL of my skin care products, including my makeup, to natural products. If I can’t eat it, I don’t want¬†it on my skin!!

If you want to see how your current products stack up in terms of toxicity, you can use the app, Think Dirty. Just search or scan your item and it will tell you how it rates as well as give you a list of all of the ingredients. You may be surprised! Many of the products I was using which I thought were “natural” are actually not!

I would love to hear about any natural products that you use and love! Please comment with your favorites!
