I always get excited when Beachbody is about to launch a new workout program, especially this one! Chris Downing, the creator of Shift Shop, is bringing a 3-week total body transformation program that you can do right in your own home.

Chris is unique in that he is very motivational. If you’re a fan of Chalene Johnson, then you’ll love Chris. He is the male version of Chalene. And I don’t know about you, but Chalene can always pull me out of a funk and get me to finish her workout, no matter how I’m feeling!

What I love about this program is that it focuses on not just helping you change your body, but also your mind. It doesn’t matter where you’ve come from, it’s where you’re going that matters.

What Is The Program Like?

  • The program is 3 weeks long.
  • You start with 25 minute basic workouts and work your way up to 45 minute intense workouts.
  • This program is great for all fitness levels, whether you’re just starting out or if you’re in good shape, there are options for you.
  • The workouts range from 25 – 45 minutes per day, 6 days a week.
  • The 7th day is a rest day which also has an optional mobility stretch workout if you feel you need it.

What Is Included In The Program?

Whether you get the program through Beachbody on Demand or else the physical DVD’s, you’ll get the full program, nutrition guide, and workout calendar to follow.

How Long Are The Workouts?

The workouts are different each week.

Week 1 has 25 minute workouts with Speed on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Strength on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and abs on Thursday and Saturday.

Week 2 is 35 minutes plus the extra 10 minute abs on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Week 3 is 45 minutes with the extra 10 minute abs on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Don’t be deterred by the 45 minute workouts! I know you may be so used to 30 minute workouts, but it’s not bad – it actually goes very quickly and doesn’t feel like 45 minutes.

There is a rest day on Sundays with an optional Mobility stretching program on Sundays.

How Much Space Do I Need?

Be sure to have enough space. A little 4 x 4 area isn’t going to work. You can space your markers closer together, but you’ll need enough room for the cardio days. I recommend a living room, basement area, or garage.

Is This Program For Anyone?

YES!

If you go into each workout with a positive attitude and set intentions for what you want to get out of it, you will succeed.

Chris will remind you to “try before you modify!” For example, if you just can’t do pushups on your toes, then move to your knees. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, YOU CAN DO THIS PROGRAM. It is totally doable, and trying this program is better than saying it’s too hard and not doing anything at all.

What Is The Meal Plan Like?

The nutrition program uses the Portion Fix system to help you measure out your food. Based on your current weight, you’ll go into a category according to the Shift Shop plan.

What’s different about this program is your food list – it changes throughout the 3 weeks of the program. You might be allowed certain foods in week 1 that you’ll no longer be allowed to eat in week 3.

For example, in week 1 your carbs may include quinoa, spaghetti squash, oatmeal, and more. In week 2, this list cuts down and you’re allowed the basics like baked potatoes and sweet potatoes as your starchy carbs. In week 3, you don’t get any starchy carbs but you increase good fats and proteins and veggies are unlimited. If you’ve been wanting to try eating lower carb, this might be a great way to do it.

What Accessories Do I Need?

First of all, I recommend you use a good pair of cross training shoes. NEVER use running shoes for a workout like this! We want to keep you injury free!

You’ll also need some weights, the markers, and a good mat. You’ll be on the ground at times so you want to make sure you have a bit of a cushion.
