Is there anything else that brings back childhood memories like peanut butter and banana? I remember peanut butter and banana sandwiches being a staple in my lunchbox. It’s even my own kid’s favourite lunch now! They aren’t allowed to have any nut products at school, so when they are home for lunch, it’s peanut butter and banana all the time!
I was delighted to find a recipe for Peanut Butter and Banana Squares. To have the flavour of peanut butter and banana in a cake-like square is delicious to say the least. My whole house smelled of warm peanut butter with a touch of banana while this was baking in the oven. Hmm..I think I’m onto something here 😉
Don’t those look delicious?! I’m here to tell you, they are!! These Skinny Peanut Butter and Banana Squares are moist like cake but without all the added unhealthy fat and calories. Don’t be afraid of the fat in this recipe…it’s the healthy kind!! Also, when you skimp on healthy fat in your diet, it messes with your hormones, and we don’t want that!
When I first came across this recipe, it called for lots of white sugar and butter. So in order to make it healthier, I omitted the white sugar and used honey instead, and I also replaced the butter with heart healthy coconut oil. I also used whole wheat flour to add more fiber.
The result? A moist, soft, peanut buttery, banana-flavoured square. Just one square will satisfy you and fill you up as they are nice and dense. These Skinny Peanut Butter and Banana Squares would make the perfect snack on the go or they also provide a great pre-workout snack!
Either way, I know you will enjoy these Skinny Peanut Butter and Banana Squares!
